Gili Trawangan is a tiny island in Indonesia, situated near Bali and Lombok. It is one of a series of three little dots of land - Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. Until the 1980's these islands had no permanent inhabitants, the draw of tourists for diving, partying and enjoying a tropical, sunny getaway had lead to people residing on the island. Now, one of the rules separating these islands from the rest of Indonesia is that there are no mechanic / engine driven vehicles on the land. The transport (other than boats) is by foot, bicycle or... pony power. "Horses of Gili" is a charity helping to educate and support these cart drivers and their ponies. There has been a lot written about them and they get a share of Social Media too. But, also sharing these paradise islands are a wide variety of other four legged beings - including, cows, goats, cats (many, many cats), chickens, rabbits, civets and porcupines, to name a few. (Dogs are banned, as it has a majority Muslim culture). These animals are there for a range of reasons, including food, but many have been brought in as pets, and some find themselves needing a little extra help.

An introduction to horses and their care. This covers what the new rider or riding school pupil needs to know about the basics of handling and moving their horse, and the equipment that is used during lessons. Including instructional video links.
